Sustainable barefoot shoes

Because every footprint counts.

We are not fooling anyone. The production of fashion and lifestyle products comes with a consumption of resources as well as unwanted impacts on people and the environment. But Blusun does not shy away, but rather takes on its responsibility.

Here to take responsibility.

Sustainability means for us that we question the consequences of our actions concerning ecological and social impacts, take responsibility, and contribute to a more sustainable and social world.

We work every day to keep unwanted consequences as low as possible. Our goal is for the positive measures to outweigh the negative effects so that we can present a green overall balance. However, there are a few steps to take until then – and we are happy to take them.

Silvia Brindlmayer and Dirk Pfeffer, the founders of BLUSUN

What we do.

In the end, it’s about the sum of all measures resulting in a more sustainable production. For this reason, our efforts are a conglomerate of large, small, as well as ecological, social, and economic measures of various kinds. These interact with each other and are subject to a certain complexity.
Our main measures (as of June 24):

  • Quality: Because the longevity of a product is one of the best ways to conserve resources.
  • Short supply chains: The manufacturing of our soles takes place in Pirmasens and the complete shoe is produced in Portugal.
  • Sustainable materials: Using leather from the food industry and vegan materials from renewable resources reduces the impact on the environment.
  • Certified raw materials: Our materials are proven to be produced in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Green electricity: Thanks to solar energy, more energy is produced on good days than is needed for production.
  • Fair production: Within the EU, strict guidelines apply to ensure fair working conditions and environmental standards.
  • Plastic-free: Our shoes arrive in boxes made from recycled materials and we also avoid plastic wherever possible.
